Three Peaks flight

Experience the North Island’s most remarkable topographical and geological features – the three peaks of Mount Ruapehu, Mount Ngauruhoe and Mount Tongariro, from 10,000 feet above.

Departing from our Ohakune base, you will explore the Tongariro National Park – New Zealand’s oldest National Park and UNESCO Dual World Heritage area – home to the three peaks and some of New Zealand’s most stunning and breathtaking scenery.

Awe at the snow-capped mountains, pristine alpine lakes, untouched native bush, rivers and waterfalls. Spot skiers on Turoa and Whakapapa ski-fields – New Zealand’s largest ski resorts, and get a bird’s eye view of ‘Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ filming sites.

Whanganui National Park flight

The Whanganui River is the longest continually navigable river in New Zealand – flowing from the upper reaches of Mount Tongariro to the Tasman Sea, cloaked by the largest lowland native forest in the North Island, Whanganui National Park.

According to Māori legend, Mount Taranaki was banished to the west following a heated battle with Tongariro over the pretty Mount Pihanga – gouging out the impressive gorges, bluffs, ridges and valleys we see today. Legend says that the trail of tears he left behind formed the mighty Whanganui River.

Absorb the legend and striking scenery as you track along the Whanganui River, from Ohakune to the settlement of Jerusalem. Sweep over the Bridge to Nowhere and Valley of Abandoned Dreams along the way, while exploring the surrounding native bush and stunning panoramic views either side.

This flight takes in some of New Zealand’s most important Māori legend, early European settler history and awe-inspiring scenery.
