Long Ranger Arrives In Taranaki

On Tuesday the helicopter was removed from its 40ft container; we're pleased to say it travelled very well. We're now very busy at "Air Repair Taranaki" giving the helicopter a thourough inspection, checking all the component serial numbers are correct, writing up the New Zealand log books, and fitting a GPS and VHF (FM) radio for DOC, Ambulance, Police and Civil Defence communications. The compass and ELT have to be sent away for calibration to account for the helicopter's new "global position". Other tasks include, calibrating /cleaning the fuel system,  and signwriting the Logo and Registration ZK-HTK. We will have to air-test the helicopter and then get it inspected by the Civil Aviation Authority, who are resposible for issuing it with a "Certificate of Airworthyness", before we can start to operate it.
